Cheapest eSIM for Egypt: our advice

Looking for an eSIM for Egypt? TropiTrade beats Airalo and Holafly on the most popular plans: 10GB for 30 days costs €28 (Airalo: €30) and unlimited for 7 days costs €25.95 (Holafly: €33.90). Our data plans have no daily speed cap, your data is simply yours. You receive the QR code by email right away and our support team is happy to help, including on WhatsApp.

Do you need an eSIM in Egypt?

Egypt is outside the EU roaming zone. Your home data plan does not carry over for free: European providers charge separate rates or day passes, and those costs add up quickly. With an eSIM you pay one fixed price upfront. Install it at home on WiFi and you are online the moment you land in Cairo, Hurghada or Sharm el-Sheikh.

Network coverage in Egypt: Orange Egypt

Our Egypt eSIMs connect to Orange Egypt, one of the largest networks in the country, with fast 4G coverage. You get service in Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, Luxor, Aswan and beyond, and the eSIM connects the moment you arrive at the airport. Coverage is thinner in the desert and on open water, as it is on every network. Your phone needs to be unlocked and eSIM-compatible; most iPhones (XS and newer) and recent Samsung and Google devices support eSIM.

Frequently asked questions about eSIM Egypt

Does my own SIM card not simply work in Egypt?

It does, but at roaming rates: Egypt is outside the EU roaming zone and most other roaming bundles too. Turn off data roaming on your own SIM and use the eSIM for internet to avoid surprises on your bill.

How much data do I need for my trip?

For WhatsApp, navigation and email, 5GB is enough. If you use social media and upload photos, pick 10GB. For streaming, video calls and hotspot sharing, 20GB or an unlimited plan is the safe choice.

How does the unlimited plan work exactly?

You get 1GB at full speed every 24 hours; after that the speed drops to 1.28 Mbps until the next day starts. WhatsApp, navigation and email keep working fine at that speed, video streaming slows down. The clock starts at first use.

Can I make calls with this eSIM?

The Egypt plans are data-only, without a phone number or calling minutes. Note that Egypt regularly restricts internet calling (such as WhatsApp calls and FaceTime) on mobile networks, and that applies to every provider. Messaging, photos and browsing work fine. Your own number stays reachable next to the eSIM for regular calls; those will incur roaming charges.

When do I install and activate the eSIM?

Install the eSIM at home on WiFi, it takes about five minutes. The validity only starts at the first connection to an Egyptian network, so installing before departure does not cost you days.

Is an eSIM the same as a digital SIM card?

Yes. An eSIM is a digital SIM card built into your phone. You scan the QR code and the Egypt SIM sits next to your own number on your device, no plastic card to swap.

Does an eSIM work on my phone?

Most iPhones from the XS onwards and recent Samsung and Google devices support eSIM. Your phone needs to be unlocked. See the full guide and compatibility list

Can I use the eSIM as a hotspot?

Yes, hotspot sharing works fine. Handy for your laptop or travel companions; keep in mind your plan will run out faster.

What if I run out of data?

You order a new plan in a few minutes, delivery is just as fast as the first time. If you get stuck, send us a message and we will help you right away.

Which network will I be on?

The eSIM automatically connects to Orange Egypt, one of the largest networks in the country. No setup needed.
