3 Easy Steps to Activate Your eSIM.
eSIMs make staying connected easier than ever. You can purchase, install and manage profiles directly from your SmartPhone. This eliminates the need to visit a mobile store or swap physical SIM cards to access service.
Step 1: Check If Your Device Supports eSIM.
For iPhone iOS Devices:
- Open the Settings app: Launch the Settings application on your iPhone.
- Navigate to General: Tap on the "General" option.
- Go to About: Select "About" from the menu.
- Find the Model Number: Tap on the "Model Number" field until it changes to a format starting with 'A' followed by four digits (e.g., AXXXX).
- Check the Model Number: Ensure that the model number does not indicate that your iPhone is from a Chinese region. You can verify this information using this link.

If the model number doesn't match any devices from mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macao, then your device should support eSIM.
Next, Check if Your iPhone is Carrier-Unlocked.
- Open the Settings app: Launch the Settings application on your iPhone.
- Navigate to General: Tap on the "General" option.
- Go to About: Select "About" from the menu.
- Check Carrier Lock: Scroll down to find the "Carrier Lock" field. If it says "No SIM restrictions," your iPhone is unlocked.
For Android Devices:
For Samsung Galaxy Devices:
- Open the Settings app: Launch the Settings application on your Samsung Galaxy device.
- Navigate to Connections: Tap on the "Connections" option.
- Go to SIM Manager: Select "SIM Manager" from the menu.
- Check for eSIM support: If you see the option to "Add eSIM," your device likely supports eSIMs.
Google Pixel Devices:
- Open the Settings app: Launch the Settings application on your Google Pixel device.
- Navigate to Network & Internet: Tap on the "Network & Internet" option.
- Add a SIM: Tap the "+" sign next to "SIMs."
- Check for eSIM support: If the "Connect to mobile network" page includes a "Download a SIM instead?" option, your device supports eSIM.
Other Android Devices:
- Dial *#06#: Open the dialer app on your Android device and enter *#06#, then press the call button.
- Check for eSIM compatibility: If your device is eSIM-compatible, you will see your device's eSIM unique identification number (EID) displayed.
Check if Your Android Device is Carrier-Unlocked.
To use an eSIM, your device must be carrier-unlocked.
For iPad & Tablets Devices:
- Open the Settings app: Launch the Settings application on your iPad.
- Navigate to General: Tap on the "General" option.
- Go to About: Select "About" from the menu.
- Find the Model Number: Tap on the "Model Number" field until it changes to a format starting with 'A' followed by four digits (e.g., AXXXX).
- Verify the Model Number: Ensure that the model number does not indicate that your iPad is from a Chinese region. You can verify this information using the link provided.

Step 2: Purchase Your eSIM.
Get Your eSIM Online
You can easily get an eSIM online at TropiTrade.com.

2. Add the eSIM to your cart and proceed to the checkout page.
3. Fill in your details on the checkout page and provide an email address for us to send your eSIM.
4. Choose your payment method, agree to the terms, and click "Place Order."
5. After successful payment, you will be directed to a confirmation page and receive an email with the QR code for your purchased eSIM.
Step 3: Activate Your eSIM.
Good to know: the days of your plan start counting the first time the eSIM connects to a mobile network, not at installation. Install shortly before departure using WiFi, and your full validity is waiting for you on arrival.
For iPhone iOS Devices:
Option 1:
Scan the QR code.
- Open the Camera app: Use your iPhone's Camera app to scan your QR code from another device's screen or a printout.
Add eSIM: When the "Cellular Plan Detected" notification appears, tap "Add eSIM." - For iOS 17.4 or later: If you're using an iPhone with iOS 17.4 or later and have the QR code on the device, touch and hold the QR code, then tap "Add eSIM."
- Tap Continue: At the bottom of the screen, tap "Continue."
- Add Cellular Plan: Tap "Add Cellular Plan."
Option 2:
Enter the eSIM information manually.
The order confirmation email includes the eSIM details for manual activation.
- Go to Settings: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap Cellular or Mobile Data: Select "Cellular" or "Mobile Data" from the menu.
- Tap Add Data Plan or Add eSIM.
- Tap (Use QR Code): At the bottom of the screen, tap "Enter Details Manually."
- Copy and Paste the Codes.
Enter your SM-DP+ address and activation code by copying and pasting them into the appropriate fields.
After installation:
Switch the eSIM on.
- Go to Settings and tap Cellular (or Mobile Data).
- Tap Cellular Data and select your TropiTrade eSIM as the data line.
- Tap your TropiTrade eSIM and turn Data Roaming on. This costs nothing extra, everything is included in your plan.
- Tip: keep data roaming switched off on your own home SIM, so your home provider cannot charge you roaming fees.
For Android Devices:
Option 1:
Scan the QR code.
The order confirmation email includes the eSIM QR code for activation.
- Go to Settings: Open the Settings app on your device.
- Tap Network & Internet: Select "Network & Internet."
- Add Mobile Network: Tap the Add or + icon next to "Mobile Network."
- Tap Next: When asked, "Don't have a SIM card?" tap "Next."
- Scan QR Code: Scan your QR code and add the confirmation code if prompted.
- Install eSIM: Return to the "Install eSIM/Access Data" screen.
- Turn on eSIM: Enable eSIM under "Mobile Network."
- Enable Mobile Data: Turn on "Mobile Data."
- Enable Data Roaming: Turn on "Data Roaming." (Turn off your primary line to avoid roaming charges when overseas.)
- Set Network Preferences: Go to "Network & Internet" and tap "Mobile Network" to set the correct network preferences listed in the "Additional Info" section.
- Set up APN: Set up an APN (Access Point Name) on your device if required. For the Curaçao, Bonaire, and Sint Maarten eSIMs the APN is: premium (see the troubleshooting section below).
Option 2:
Enter the eSIM information manually.
The order confirmation email includes the eSIM details for manual activation.
Add eSIM Manually on Android Devices
- Go to Settings: Open the Settings app on your device.
- Tap Network & Internet: Select "Network & Internet."
- Add Mobile Network: Tap the Add or + icon next to "Mobile Network."
- Tap Next: When asked, "Don't have a SIM card?" tap "Next."
- Enter Code Manually: Tap "Enter Code Manually." Copy and paste the "SM-DP+ address & Activation Code" from the confirmation email.
- Turn on eSIM: Enable eSIM under "Mobile Network."
- Enable Mobile Data: Turn on "Mobile Data."
- Enable Data Roaming: Turn on "Data Roaming."
- Set up APN: Set up an APN (Access Point Name) on your device if required. For the Curaçao, Bonaire, and Sint Maarten eSIMs the APN is: premium (see the troubleshooting section below).
Add eSIM Manually Samsung Android
- Go to Settings – Connections – SIM Card Manager – Add a Mobile Plan.
- Select Scan Carrier QR code and then tap Enter activation code instead.
- Enter your activation code by copying and pasting it into the appropriate field.
- Tap Connect – Add and use it now.
Add eSIM Manually on Google Android
To activate eSIM on Google Android, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings – Network & Internet – Tap the + icon next to Mobile Network.
- Tap on Download a SIM instead – Next and tap Need help?.
- Tap on Enter Data Manually.
- Enter your activation code by copying and pasting it into the appropriate field.
No internet after activation? Here is how to fix it.
These settings apply to the TropiTrade eSIMs for Curaçao, Bonaire, and Sint Maarten. First check that mobile data is set to your TropiTrade eSIM and that data roaming is on for that eSIM.
iPhone: set the APN to premium
If you see 4G or LTE but have no internet, the APN (access point) usually needs to be set manually.
- Turn off WiFi completely.
- Go to Settings and tap Cellular.
- Tap Cellular Data and select your TropiTrade eSIM as the active data line.
- Go back and tap your TropiTrade eSIM.
- Tap Cellular Data Network.
- Under APN, enter: Name: premium, APN: premium. Leave all other fields empty.
- Turn on Airplane Mode for 10 seconds, then turn it off.
- Restart your iPhone.
Still no internet? Dial #191# from the eSIM and send us the status you see. We are happy to help.
Android: set the APN to premium
If you see 4G or LTE but have no internet, set the APN (access point) manually.
- Go to Settings and tap Network & internet.
- Tap SIMs and select your TropiTrade eSIM.
- Make sure Mobile data is on.
- Turn Roaming on. This costs nothing extra with the TropiTrade eSIM.
- Tap Access Point Names (APN) in the same eSIM screen.
- Tap the + symbol in the top right.
- Enter: Name: premium, APN: premium. Leave all other fields empty.
- Save via the three dots in the top right.
- Select premium as the active APN.
- Restart your phone.
Menu names can differ slightly per brand. On Samsung the SIM settings are under Settings, Connections, SIM manager. Still no internet? Dial #191# from the eSIM and send us the status you see.
Useful codes: check your data, balance, and phone number
Dial #191# from the eSIM to see your usage: how much data you have left, your balance, and the status of your plan.
Dial #181# from the eSIM to see your own local phone number. It is also listed in your order confirmation email.
Both codes are free and work on the TropiTrade eSIMs for Curaçao, Bonaire, and Sint Maarten.
